We got home on Sunday, after four days in Bernkastel-Kues. Originally, we had planned to drive to Munich for Oktoberfest, but the local one at the convent was much better, and cutting out all that drive time gave us more time to do some sightseeing in Germany's wine country. I am posting just a few of the pictures here, but there should be more coming when my parents get back to Texas.

This was the least scary part of the road up to the B&B where we stayed. Think, one lane, part cobblestone, a sheer drop into steep vineyards on one side, a wall on the other.

Bernkastel

Carl took this picture from one of the many little stands where people hang out waiting to shoot a wild boar. We walked from Bernkastel over to the neighboring Traben-Trabach for a couple beers and a poke into the furniture museum, which is far more exciting than it sounds. Yes, it's official, I have walked seven miles for a beer through some serious Hansel and Gretel country.
Yayo, if you are reading this, savor this picture. I am not smoking or drinking in it.

A view from the look out point.

Dad and Rita at the Beirgarten in Traben-Trabach

Oktoberfest at the convent - Dad and Rita had gone to get food, and Carl had gone to the loo. Right then, the house band, Wild Bach, broke into something funky, and this guy invited me up to dance on the benches. Yeah, I can't be left alone. Of course, we could just call it "cultural immersion".

"Ein beir, bitte."

The Roman baths at Trier.

A fuller view.
There are tons more pictures, but it's hard to choose what to even post. I will probably put more pictures up when I get more from the folks.

That's a really cool pic of the Roman baths.
The Roman baths were awesome. Just amazing.
I'm still disappointed that you couldn't find my great grandma.
